Augustus 2006. Toch vooral bij het Lago Maggiore niet vergeten de Borromeese eilanden te bezoeken, want daar is het prachtig! Deze zijn te bereiken met de boot vanuit onder meer Stresa, Baveno en Verbania. Foto's van Ghislaine en Niels:

Oostkant Lago di Mergozzo - Lake Mergozzo East
Juli-augustus 2005. Leon en José Santbergen stuurde prachtige foto's op van hun verblijf in de omgeving van Masera en Mergozzo. Allereerst een verslag vanuit het beschermde Natuurpark Alpe Devero (1650 m.), daarna de zonnewijzers in de Vallei van Vigezzo. Deze 'vallei van de schilders' is om meerdere redenen heel bijzonder, bijvoorbeeld ook door de schoorstenen (zie eventueel ook de zomerpagina met de vakantiewoningen in de Ossola Vallei). De derde reeks foto's schenkt speciale aandacht aan de flora van Villa Taranto in Pallanza, nog geen 10 km. van Mergozzo. Villa Taranto is één van de mooiste villa's - sinds de 19e eeuw werden de tuinen aanvankelijk naar Engels voorbeeld ingericht - met plantensoorten als Azelea en Rhododendron, die synoniem zijn geworden voor het rijke natuurleven aan het Lago Maggiore.
July-August 2005. Leon en José Santbergen send beautiful pictures from the protected Natural Park Alpe Devero (1650 m.), sun-dials in Vigezzo Valley - or Valley of the painters - and their photo documentary concludes with the unique paradise of precious botanical species and flora that have become synonymous with the lakes (Azaleas, Rhododendron and Camellias). Therefore the Santbergen visited Villa Taranto, less than 10 km. from Mergozzo. These gardens - Villa Taranto is really not to be missed - were initially designed in the English style, with extensive lawns, but from 1830 it became even more complex with paths amidst rocks that seemed natural, streams, small bridges and spectacular terraces with a view towards Lago Maggiore.
